ABOUT ME
Viraj Amarasinghe
Hello, my name is Viraj Amarasinghe. I am a Strategic Technology Leader, Entrepreneur, and Cybersecurity Consultant.
I am the Founder and CEO of Make It Viral Media & Tech, where I lead a team dedicated to digital transformation and AI-powered business solutions. My journey has taken me from the quiet forests of Sri Lanka to the cutting edge of the American tech industry, and I translate complex business challenges into actionable technical roadmaps.
ORIGIN STORY
I was born in Sri Lanka.where my path started quite differently than most in the tech world.
Right after high school, I left the conventional world behind. I moved into a forest to live with monks, dedicating myself to the practice of Buddhist meditation and mindfulness. For 12 years , I lived as a monk, dwelling in caves and forest areas, practicing isolation, and mastering the art of the mind.
This wasn’t just a phase; it was a deep commitment. I eventually began teaching meditation globally, which led to an invitation to move to the United States to establish a meditation center in Tampa, Florida.
For five years, I served the community here, teaching mindfulness and raising over $100,000 for property acquisition and center development. But as I looked at the world, I realized I wanted to help people in a different way, one that wasn’t bound by religious obligations or organizational borders.
THE TRANSITION
In 2017 I made the difficult but necessary decision to resign from the order. I wanted to empower others through technology and education.
I enrolled in Hillsborough Community College (HCC) and later the University of South Florida, diving headfirst into Computer Engineering. It was a massive shift, from the silence of a meditation hall to the noise of logic gates and C++ code.
During this time, I didn’t just study; I led. I served as the Chapter President of the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society and became a member of IEEE and the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). I graduated with a 3.56 GPA in 2024, proving to myself that the discipline I learned in the forest applied just as well to the laboratory.

MY PERSONAL WORK

I am a published poet, having authored three books: Poems from the Universe, Grounding Thoughts, and My Dream Girl. Writing allows me to express the spiritual side that remains a core part of who I am.
I am also an avid photographer and a martial arts enthusiast. Whether it’s capturing a moment through a lens or practicing discipline on the mat, I believe in keeping the mind and body active.
My friends call me “Mr. V.” I strive to be an outgoing, friendly presence, a “friend of the world.” My philosophy is simple: “Kindness is my armor. Generosity is my weapon.”
MY PHILOSOPHY
My approach to business is deeply influenced by my background as a monk.
I believe in Mindful Innovation. We shouldn’t just build systems because we can; we should build them to make life easier and more valuable for the people using them.
I translate the patience and clarity I learned in the forest into my leadership style. Whether I am mentoring my team of 12 professionals or designing a complex CRM architecture, I focus on clarity, purpose, and positive impact.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
My path from a forest monk to a tech CEO is unconventional, but it taught me that everything is possible if you have the discipline to pursue it.
I hope my journey inspires you to forge your own path, no matter where you started. I look forward to connecting with you, whether to discuss the future of AI, cybersecurity, or just to share a good story.
